Dog owners!

For those of you that travel with your dogs, kids, motorcycles, ATV's and generators and are considerate of your neighbours, I thank you. For you other idiots, I hope your toilet plugs up and over flows.

I agree. We very rarely go out to eat but if we do both ours go with us. I don't like leaving them in the fiver since you never know when the electricity may go out or the outside service breaker may trip. In the truck I leave it idling and we always check on them very frequently to make sure things are ok. If we do HAVE to leave them I always have a neighbor who will check on things for us that we leave our camper keys with in case.

I don't know which is worse -- dogs barking in the camper, or somebody leaving their Power Stroke idling in the restaurant parking lot.

Hmmm, I guess if someone ordered to go and decided to set in the parking lot it might present a problem. Hopefully they would only do that at a fast food joint though.

X2. We try to travel in the shoulder seasons, when the weather is cooler. On the few hot days we leave the AC and the generator on when parked. Of course, we do all our touring in the Roadtrek anyway, and all the dogs (and a cat) have been very happy and comfortable.

You don't really have a choice.

I try to get to know my neighbors and introduce them to my dog. I have done my best to get him ready to be a camping dog (1-1/2 yrs old). I have always asked the neighbors to let me know if he barks. I try to never be away very long. I do have a bark collar (with fluid...not shocking). If someone is walking their dog, gets close to my rig...I know he probably barks...but he will do that when I am home also. No one wants to hear a non-stop barker.

I understand what your saying but, if you go inside to eat you are now leaving the pooch in a hot, unventilated, vehicle. Now, because of the low crime rate in my area. And, because I have a second set of keys for my truck I have ; on occasion; left the AC running for the dog in the truck and just locked the doors when I left. I never do this for more then a few minutes and because back in the 70's there were some cars that would pop out of park by themselves and go around in circles in reverse I know laws were passed to make it illegal to leave the vehicle running unintended. But, I'm not going to kill my dog in a hot car. Better off to leave it running or leave the dog in a Air Conditioned , locked, curtains closed Travel Trailer. INMO
