I am very impressed with todays dog owners as I rarely see dogs not on leashes or leaving a dog poo along the roadway. This note is for the tiny percentage of you that don't tie your dogs up.We travel with a Siamese cat that loves to go on walks on the leash to check out the area. It has only happened three or four times in the last five years but never the less, pretty scary. We were at Pismo Beach going for a walk when a dog silently attacked our cat who I was able to pick up in the nick of time. This situation is akin to picking up twenty razor blades swirling in the wind as our Winnie is pretty frightened and doesn't always recognized a helping hand and I am the one who comes out looking like I went to an apprentice barber. Thanks for any help in this matter. Please keep you dogs on a tether.

Most dog owners are responsible, a few are slobs.

Carry a 2 foot piece of 2 inch pipe and when the dogs come out.....bonk!

Just the opposite, here on the east coast. The general public just does not realize it as the ordinance/laws regrading leashing cats is not enforced.

As a matter of fact, as the coyote population continues to explode in all areas of this county, any free roaming animal is in real danger.

Or me, either, for that matter. But I wouldn't hesitate to drop kick and/or "bonk" any animal that was threatening me , my Grandkids, or my own leashed pet.

And I'd point out that the law would likely only be on the side of bonkin' the dog- can you imagine explaining to the LEO why you bashed a person instead of the dog that was goin' after you??? Assault charges, here we come!

an errant brain disabled neighbor let his dog out occasionally to lay under his 5ver. Once my cat was asleep in her bag chair when I came out the door this mutt was making a bee line to the cat. No dog on earth ever had his ears twisted and pulled like that SOB, when I got a hold of him. He screamed for mercy. His owner screamed for mercy, which only came when he put a leash on his mutt and got him out of my yard.

If a dog is threatening me and coming at me aggressively it will get bonked. What would you do just let the dog rip open your leg and just say well 'the dog is being a dog' so that's ok. Say could someone take me to the ER for stitches.
