Jack never said when he was attacked. He said when the dog comes out, bonk. That implies no matter whether friendly or aggressive the dog gets whacked. I'll still stay with bonking the owner.

Or me, either, for that matter. But I wouldn't hesitate to drop kick and/or "bonk" any animal that was threatening me , my Grandkids, or my own leashed pet.
And I'd point out that the law would likely only be on the side of bonkin' the dog- can you imagine explaining to the LEO why you bashed a person instead of the dog that was goin' after you??? Assault charges, here we come!
