Two good books: 101 Dog Tricks, Step by step activities to engage, challenge, and bond with your dog by Sundance, Kyra; Chalcy
Imagine Life with a Well-Behaved Dog: A 3-step positive Dog Training Program by Julie Bjelland
Both available on Kindle.
The basic idea is step by step training. Think of a child trying to do gymnastics. First they are taught to stand with their hands at their side, then touch their toes, then touch the floor, then run stop and touch the floor, then finally they attempt a flip.
Same idea with a dog. Reward the simplest progression, ignore negative or discourage using a can full of pennies to give negative feedback. Just step by step and measure progress in months not days.
Good Luck
