We travel with 2 collies (Lassie collies not border collies). I agree with everyone saying that you have to be a "dog ambassador". Our dogs are always leashed on 6 foot leashes, not flexies. We pick up after them every time and don't let them approach people unless they ask us. I don't understand why that's complicated.
For our next dog, I'm seriously considering a Beauceron, which looks like a stocky Doberman or a cross between a Doberman and a Rottweiler. It's a herding, not a guard dog, but it looks fierce. I'm concerned enough that I think I'll be making fliers to give to the RV places when I check in explaining about the dog. I'll also let them know before I make a reservation.
