Wal Mart etc. stops for groceries

We pick up our new to us DP MH next week. We will be traveling across country with our 67 lb lap dog Bo. Bo is not yet a camping dog. When we have to leave him in the camper for a while do most people leave the MH engine running with the dash AC on or run the generator with the ceiling AC running? We don't want to have baked dog when we get back with the groceries or whatever. What to do?

  • You'll have a switch somewhere on your dash for cranking it up. Let it warm up a bit (few seconds to a minute) and then go to your thermostat(s) and switch on the AC. All before you start driving, of course. ;)
  • I don't want to sound stupid but shutdown says the generator will be running while driving. Those things aren't automatic are they?

Do what Pops does. Run the generator, turn both ac units on set at around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. He puts (my personal favorite) Survivorman in the DVD player, turns the TV on then gives me a couple of Dentastix before he goes shopping.

Oh, an Pops gives me a blankie just in case I's gets cold. Easy Peasy! ... :C

PS Make sure all the windows are closed tight as well! ...
  • I think you will find that even while traveling the dash AC won't cool the rig when its 75+ outside. Your genny and house AC will be running while driving anyhow. Shut down the engine and let the genny running.
