What are they thinking?

I'm currently working in a campground where the owners require a $25 deposit per dog brought into the campground. Not sure if they've ever kept a deposit or not. But, at check-in, you have to sign a form with all the dog rules on it. Usual rules, a couple of extras regarding the beach.

So, yesterday a lady with 2 dogs takes them off leash in the middle of the day, within sight of the office, to play fetch with a tennis ball.

Another lady takes her large dog into the bath house with her, then complains on her way out that someone had smoked in there.

  • I'm thinking that they were breaking the rules otherwise he/she would not have posted "what were they thinking?". Years back we stayed at an RV park near the Royal Gorge in Colorado. Lots of rules and when my husband checked us in the owner went on and on about dogs and rules, etc. So while we were there we were extra careful with our dogs. We were only staying there a couple of nights and didn't want any problems. All went well, but then again, we always keep our dogs on leash and pick up after them, never leave them alone, etc. BTW, I would pass up any RV park that requires a $25 deposit. What is my dog going to destroy? Same with an extra $5 a day fee. What? Are they going to pick up after my pet? I know that this fee and rules are for the rule breakers but it affects those of us who follow rules without having to be told or pay extra.
  • More rules won't help. Those people that are inconsiderate of others will continue to be that way. Not only with pets but in other areas as well. The $25 deposit only chases other customers away. If I was traveling through the area I would just pass that park by thinking it wasn't pet friendly. I googled an RV park in AZ. On their web page they stated that if your dog barked they would call the dog police and have the dog put in jail.. I don't blame them because I hate barking dogs but I passed up the park for another because I figured they didn't want dogs in their RV park. Easier to just pick another RV park. We just came back from a 4000 mile trip and only had problems at one parks with a dog off a leash. No barking dog problems.
  • I see you're working in the campground...were those folks breaking the rules they'd signed on to, and if so what did you have to do to stop them?
