Good thoughts on timing of getting a new puppy. Also, you live in NY (??) weather this time of year isn't conducive to effective training, housebreaking...
We've worked the last few years with a local hound rescue and I've gained a lot of experience and renewed respect for individuals in this group. Very few behavior (aggressive) problems. Most have an active personality that requires attention when training or you can get some poor habits. But, this is pretty typical of most breeds :B
Generally health wise, they seem to not be affected by as many congenital problems we see in many other breeds.
