One of our clients has Bloodhounds she trains and *shows*. Hers are not exceptionally friendly but then they are workings dogs. She always brings her dogs in for gastropexy (stomach tacking) but I can not think of any health issues she has with them. They do drool (gooey, thick and long) which I would find unappealing in a companion animal. They would seem to be a strange choice for an inside pet for a child.
