it just dawned on me that I have one of those setups with a dish 625? one wire comes in to the dual receiver and the same wire shoots it back to were the wire runs to the second TV. I questioned the installer why he was only running one wire into the dual receiver cause it seemed strange.

That's quite different. With Dish you can run one cable to a Dish Separator and run both of those connections to ONE DVR or dual tuner box. However, you cannot do the same thing and power 2 separate receivers.

We have one cable from the Dish 500, it goes to a DP-Separator which splits into 2 inputs to the dual tuner receiver, which we use for 2 televisions, one in bedroom and one in the living room. Not sure if this helps the OP or not.

that's way too easy and the correct way to do it, but he wanted to use one coax and if he wants to run two receivers at the same time, the answer was NO.

An A/B switch will not allow you to use 2 receivers at the same time. If you want to use 2 receivers, you will need to run 2 separate coax cables from the antenna to the receivers. No other choice.

theoretically you cannot split the sat signal before it gets to the decoder box. With that said I did see a post here where someone build a splitter box and posted it here. It was quite complicated and if memory serves me correct no one replied about it. But basically the answer is NO or as above keep one unplugged.
