In our personal experience you should be able to make that work without an amplifier if you use high-grade RG6 and minimum connections - don't connect a bunch of shorter lengths. You will be more subject to rain fade but in SC you are close enough to the satellite I don't believe you will have a problem in good weather. It doesn't hurt to try, you can always add an amplifier. I was able to get good HD from NE FL on a Slimline antenna and 240 feet of cable. That same combo didn't work in the Michigan UP - too far from the satellite.
