87 percent file transfer

Have this message in small box on top right of screen. "87 percent complete". Has a blue arrow in small box. Has circle with "more details" below it. Clicked on this one time and said "file transfer". Now, unable to receive this info. Have restarted and run several virus scans with nothing found. Anyone know what this could be and how to delete it. Shut the computer down and comes back up. Thanks Running google but microsoft has loaded "one launch" recently which do not want at this time.

Well I see things like that when I download some internet podcasts
You also see it if your computer is syncing with a cloud storage service

And if hackers are using your computer for their ends.

Once the transfer hits 100% (or gets cancelled) the alet goes POOF. (vanishes).
  • One Launch is not a Microsoft product. It is an add-on app which many consider ad-ware or at least bloat ware. If you do not want it then go to start.. settings... apps and delete.
If you turned on sync in Google this could be files being transferred to the cloud. You can turn off sync in the Chrome settings page.

As mentioned, OneLaunch is not a Microsoft product. Similar third party apps typically track your activity for marketing purposes.

It is most likely a "PUP" (Potentially Unwanted Program) or "Adware" that was bundled with another program or App that you may have installed recently intentionally or unintentionally.

Adware, sometimes all it takes is to activate an advertising banner by hovering over the banner..

Virus scans often not "detect" PUPs, nor Adware..

HERE is some info on One Launch and how to remove if it what I think it may be.

As far as running Google Browser barefoot goes, yeah, that is pretty insecure as far as PUPs and Adware..

To harden your PC it takes something like AdblockPlus and to really lock it down NoScript.. Anything less and you are highly vulnerable..

Be aware, NoScript can break websites as it sole purpose is to prevent JavaScripts from running.

JavaScripts are a small "programs" which has full and complete Administrator access to your PC and run in the background. It is how things like PUPs and Adware and even viruses can get installed without your permission.

Unfortunately, a lot of websites are designed to use JavaScripts to enable critical features of that site, blocking them from running prevents you from being able to use that site. So it often requires you to make exceptions for each script one at a time until the website works.

HERE is a websearch for JavaScript security flaws in case you are interested in learning more..
