A bubble in my Compass

Liquid filled is good, because it helps stead the needle. Just don't leave it in the sun.

It got hot, stuff inside expanded, pressure must have made it leak. When it cooled, stuff shrinked, sucked a bit of air in. Never leave a liquid compass in the sun. Either use it as is, or buy another.

I have a compass app on my phone...no bubbles.

It's not the cost, it's puzzling how the bubble appeared and I am flustered that I can't get rid of it.

The next one will not be liquid filled.

Now you can use it as a bubble level.
If you only use it for the satellite dish I wouldn't worry about it.

No, The bubble just happen. I use it to point my TV dish. Between stops, it laying on the dash of the MH, the bubble just appeared after a days drive.

Seems to work pretty good as a magniifer for the little marks.

I know that aircraft wet compasses have a rubber diaphragm in the back to allow for expansion and contraction of the compass oil due to temperature changes. An air bubble can provide the same effect, thus protecting the case and seal from over pressure when the oil expands.
