That said, I don't believe there are any anti-malware apps in the App store anyway. And Apple does a really good job of vetting the apps that are in the app store. So the likelihood of getting malware is pretty slim. But it has been demonstrated that its possible. The same security holes that can be exploited to "jailbreak" the device can also be used to install malware.
I am certainly not a computer or software expert but I had the occasion to talk to an Apple expert(15 years working for them) and he said that yes malware can infect an apple product and he has on purpose done it but it will die and not be able to spread in the computer software because of how it has been written. From my own experience I have had a Mac for about 6 years and I have never had a problem with any virus or malware. A real bonus because as soon as you install a anti virus software it slows down the computer.
