A Wise Laptop Buy For A High School Student?
He begged me to find a good USA value for a 10"-11" laptop for a niece. Down here private schools require a laptop for high school students. And money is an issue. He has about $120 dollars to spend.....

Chrome books are nothing like a real laptop, pretty much the same as an Android tablet, limited processor, memory, on board storage..
MY companies IT does not use or support Chromebooks or tablets due to the fact in our business we may be required to handle extremely sensitive patient information.. For that reason any PC that may come into contact with PHI IS encrypted, even flash drives and external HDs MUST be encrypted in order to copy files to them..
Can't do that reliably on Chrome or Android which are pretty loose devices when it comes to security..
Linux, well, sure, might work in a pinch but keep in mind, schools often will have specific software requirements which often will preclude the use of Linux, Android, or Chrome..
Most schools will require either a Windows PC OS or MAC OS..
