I have an ACER 11.6" Netbook right in front of me, and this is the way to blank the notebook's screen when using an external monitor. Or if you want your ACER to blank automatically when you connect your HDMI, then go into Dispay>Screen Resolution and set "Multiple displays" to "Show desktop only on 2". Note that multiple displays option is only available in WIN 7 when you're connected to two monitors.
