Adding a Wingman UHF TV antenna

No, it is not. The Concorde does not have the same electronics in the head that are in the Winegard so it will not be of any value. I replaced my Concorde with an electric Winegard but they are no longer available directly from Winegard but might be available from your RV manufacturer.

The Wingman is just a passive snap-in wave guide, it will work with any batwing antenna that is roughly the same shape as the Winegard antenna ... attaching it is the tricky part?

Yes it is possible. the electronics in the head are actually not affected by or affect the Wingman at all. it only affects the "Antenna"

The only issue is mounting.. I don't know if the needed holes are there.

"There is no electrical connection between the wingman and the existing parts of the antenna, it only affects the RF (Radio Frequency) pattern of the antenna.. Too much to explain here but I design and build antennas it is a "Director Array" and is not electrically connected to anything.

Velco, 3m surface mount tape, epoxy, screws, wire ties

any thing that will hold the wingman in place, and it will increase UHF reception

try an add on amplifier that runs from 120v, inside between the antenna lead and the TV, i have an Emerson amplifier plugged into the power strip that powers the TV, it has served me well for several years, except for visiting Quartzite

there are better ones out there, but i can't tell you which ones

Thanks everyone for your input. I called Winegard and the the tech said regarding the wingman it will not work, but when I mentioned there are no electronics to attach the tech said if you can get it to fit it may work.

The tech also said the SensarPro will work. She said the amp in the antenna (Concord 90) helps acquire the signal and the amp in the SensarPro boosts the signal.

I wish I knew more about antenna's. I'm going on the coach roof today to see if I can somehow connect the wingman. What do you guys say about the SensarPro? Still shouldn't try it??

Along as the Seansar Pro is between the tv and the existing antenna output connection aka the last thing before the tv, so it is not in the antenna 12v power circuit

Regarding the Sensar Pro.
IF the antenna presents as a dead short to the Sensar Pro.. It will pop the fuse

If the antenna presents as an OPEN CIRCUIT (at DC) then it will work

If the antenna presents as a proper "load" it will work

Standard dipole = Open circuit
Folded dipole with transformer = Dead short
Eitehr with amplifer in head = Proper load

Folded dipole designs are .. I don't think I've ever seen one for RV TV use..

With the Concorde, there is an amplifier inside the coach instead of inside of the antenna head so you would have to install the Sensar Pro after the inside amp and on the output side between the amp and the TV and not between the antenna and the amp. I suppose that should work at least in getting the antenna pointed properly. If you do try to figure a way to attach the Wingman, let us know how it works out. A friend of mine was able to modify the arms of the Concorde and the Sensar attachement points to accept a Sensar head. If you are handy this would be your best option. You would then also need to replace the Concorde amp with the Winegard power supply.

Isn't the Sensar a folded dipole? Not enough detail in the pic to see what's what, but it looks like a terminated FD.

No, I do not think it is electronically, but then I've never opened one up and looked.

FOr an antenna that is fed by coax. A straight dipolie is about 70-75 Ohms impedance.. Same as the coax

A Folded dipole is 300 ohms, Same as the old "Flat lead"

BUT.... When you put electronics between the antenna element, as winegard does, THen it does not matter if the antenna is a straight or folded dipole to the coax because the ELECTROINCS makes sure the coax sees the proper impedance.

NOTE: IT does matter to the electronics in the head.. but then they were put there by the folks who designed the antenna.

That's why I said "Either with amplifier in head = Proper load" THe coax does not "See" the antenna,. only the electronics (Amplifier).

This I do not.. Not much (not anythign I've seen to date) Beats a Sensar IV with Sensar Pro.. INCLUDING;.... In some cases..... Cable TV.
