Thanks! I have a DJI 450 that is lit up like a Christmas tree at night. Then a custom built folding HK Quanum Folding 470 and another custom built Tarot 650 Sport I prefer to build my own vs buying off the shelf models. I do not need a lot of the newer features that seem to be the norm these days.

If you were closer I would take some aerials for you for free. I do not have my FAA 333 exemption YET so I can not charge a fee.

Here is my home photo taken from one of my copters.

Check with your local pilots. They are often looking for an adventure and will let you take your own pictures. Offer to buy them lunch at their favorite airport cafe on the way back. You will have a great experience also. If anything like me you can get s bit of practise flying too.....Mike

OP: you must live out in the boonies where they just dont process the pix often. The pix i see around here are stunningly clear, and if you go to a place like Las Vegas or Silicon Valley, they are even better. With all the hobbiest heli's around these days it shouldnt be hard to find someone. Check the local parks or fly fields, but do it in the off hours when they will be there without people.

Check THIS. Its a list of RC clubs in the area along with web addresses. As I mentioned above, it is technically illegal for any hobbiest to sell their work because that now makes it a commercial venture and thats illegal without proper authorization that I can almost guarantee you none of the members will have. So work something out with that in mind

Thanks for the replies. I want to obtain an aerial photo of our place to frame and put on the wall. Probably sounds kind of cheesy but we have lived here 30 years and will be moving next year sometime and would like an aerial photo of the place.

I downloaded google earth but by the time I zoom-in enough for a decent picture the trees and vehicles end up looking like something from a cartoon. I wonder if I could pay for better resolution somehow.

Looked at aerial property photographers on CL and found a couple, most of who do aerial photos for homes that are for sale and some of them do aerial photography/video of weddings and like events. A number of them list the specific make/model of the drone that they use. Most of the pricing starts at $300, but I did find one that said a simple photograph would be $200 to maybe $300. And one from a guy who is trying to start his drone photography business and has pricing at $150. It looks like his ad has been up for a month and he has yet to have any customers.

There is an active small airplane field not too far from here. Airplane – ½ hour/$145, one hour/$275. Helicopter – ½ hour/$195. My concern with this approach is we don’t have a decent camera (only small point and shoots), and being able to get a good angle/view for the picture while flying over.

I did some searching on RC clubs and didn’t find much activity, at least by looking at their websites. I may send a couple of them an email and see what they say. I’m assuming that there is cross-over between traditional RC interest and drone interest.

Looking at the satellite view I think a drone might be the best method to capture the type of photo we are looking for. Our place has a lot of trees on it and the surrounding property’s do as well. Trees like 60’ evergreens and such. I think with the very specific angle/altitude the photo needs to be taken at, a drone might be the best approach.
