Because the courts found that Dish willfully and repeatedly violated the copyright laws, by providing Distant Network Service to ineligible households, a permanent injunction was issued barring Dish from offering DNS.
That injunction was removed a few years back and Dish once again provided DNS services. They did provide their customers with DNS for a year or so. For some unexplained reason, Dish voluntarily turned the service over to AAD. It's been a bumpy road for Dish/DNS customers.
