Alternative to Photoshop

I googled .raw and found a Wikipedia article. In it I found "Photivo is a raw processor with a 16-bit processing pipeline. It runs on Linux, Mac OSX and Windows and integrates tightly with GIMP."
I have never used it so I can't recommend it, could be worth a try though.
