While both of his batteries were bought THROUGH Amazon, they were shipped from two different vendors. The first one was the standard battery. When it didn't work a larger battery was ordered from a different vendor therefore insuring it couldn't have been from the same production run as the first one in case there were problems with that run of batteries. Both sizes of batteries were the same as the two the original two OEM batteries.
If I were to guess, I would say both are new, but old batteries that have aged out. Gateway probably hasn't made a new battery for that laptop for several years.
Has anyone had experience with Batteries Plus rebuilding batteries? According to their adds they would take the battery pack apart and put new cells in it.
