Well, there's your problem.
Edge is allowing gmail to INSERT Chrome "Ads" into your gmail pages.
Try FF with Adblock plus, if no Chrome install popups happen then EDGE is your issue.
I use Gmail all the time with FF and Adblock plus and have NEVER once had any Chrome install popups.
You have to understand that Gmail and Chrome come from the SAME place, GOOGLE and they like to ensure you use all of their stuff to gather as much info about you as possible.
You might also wish to consider using MS Internet Explorer instead of "Edge" which is still included with Win10 and most likely will be less problematic than Edge.
