I called Straight Talk and was told the same thing. The Straight Talk agent said they will "freeze" my account if I'm found tethering with my phone. I asked why and was told it was a violation of their user policy. Which didn't tell me why....My phone is a straight talk phone that doesn't have the Hotspot icon anyway and it's 2 years old so when it dies I'm going to shop around and find an outfit that isn't so restrictive.
