If you're looking to buy a new lens at a lower price than the Nikon ones, I'm using a Tamron 18-270 on my Canon DSLR and I love it. It has auto-focus and stabilization. I'm pretty sure there's a Nikon equivalent. Compared to the Canon lenses it was less expensive and covered a broader zoom range. I paid ~$600 but it replaced all the other lenses I used to carry.
yep, that tamron 18-270 is great. have one for my nikon and can use adapter on Nex 7. I think the Nikon version was about $800 however. nice to not have to keep switching lenses. well I have to switch between my 18-270 and 8-16. :)
since the lens is within return requirements, get rid of it NOW.
