I ditched my satellite TV and land-line phone 10+ years ago.
I came to the conclusion that I didn't need 627.channels of video compost.
One thing that I do miss is spending my Saturday watching all of the different home improvement shows. What better to do on a Saturday than watching Dean Johnson remodel a bathroom?
Well.... My wife came up with a good answer to that question..... Since we cut the cord I have remodeled two houses including three down to the stud bathroom remodels.
Sometimes I miss Dean Johnson.....
Seriously, I don't think that todays market a new satellite TV provider would have an ice cubes chance in hell but the ones that have already invested in satellite and ground infrastructure may continue to function holding on to rural customers who still lack the broadband connectivity to take advantage of streaming. I live in a county where only about half of the population has access to cable or DSL Internet. There are still plenty of DirectTV customers here.
My $0.02....
In a few years the majority of our media and communication will come to us via some kind of IP connection. Depending on where we are it may be DSL, cable, fiber, cellular, WISP or satellite. Depending on what technology is available where you are.
