AUTOCAD type drawing program for WIN10

No where can I find ADOBE ACROBAT ver 10 or 11 that I can afford haha... It seems I can rent for a monthly fee however haha... It seems my ver 9 will not perform well using WIN10...

I do find ver XI on ebay for $89 each... They are $400 plus from the stores... imagine that...

I think I may be thinking of ADOBE ACROBAT which is a high dollar PDF EDITOR program...

I believe I have a legal version 9 here. Wonder if that works on WIN10...

Thanks TOM-M on LIBRE OFFICE v5.0 working on WIN 10... At least with that program I can still get to the many drawings I have saved in its format using v3.4 hopefully...

I have been using TurboCad for many years with many different versions of windows. I currently have the 2015 version running in Win10.

Libre v5.0 works on my tablet which runs Win 10.

greenRVgreen - Turbocad has a similar 2d/3d program on their page for around the same cost..

I am not a hugh user of the AUTOCAD type programs but like to find something that will let me make drawings like I did above using LIBRA OFFICE.



As you can see I can just grab the component cad drawing from the various companies showing them on their web pages and resize and modify and add connection lines and text to suit my application of their products... You can see that I am using drawings of the BLUE SEA products and it all looks great to me for showing folks what I did in my products. Sometimes I only may use a photo like the 2-pin 4AWG bulkhead connector at the bottom. I always identify these parts with their Parts ID info...

The BLUE SEA Drawings are saved in full drawings but I can open them up and pull separate things out of their drawing with ease... Or add a line coming out to show my connections...

I have files with all of these components I use in my projects and can drag them into my drawings and when done it saves just like you see here...

I can do some of this in AUTOCAD LT but the LIBRA OFFICE program worked great allowing me to do this with almost CLICK CLICK operations... Of course the LIBRA OFFICE was only good for WIN XP-PRO... Haven't downloaded their latest version yet that says it works in WIN10...

This is what I am looking for in design CAD type program. None of the TURBOCAD program brochures say they will work in the WIN10 machines. I just sent off email to the company asking questions...

This may be totally different from you are looking for. I really don't need to develop a full drawing of an object to manufacture one from... I just want to draw Electronic Schematics using symbols or a pictorial of the actual component like I did here in this drawing...

Guess that all makes sense haha...

From my working days with electronic systems block diagrams almost all of the diagrams were saved in PDF format. Some of them very hugh in size. Then you could pass those around the various communities for additions or updates etc... You just keep zooming down for more details... I forget the name of the drawing program ITT Industries in COLO Springs used that was in the $200-$400 dollar range. It just allowed you to break down everything and grab a line here or a section there and move all around and save again in PDF format. It was great for adding JPG photos to the drawings as well... I need to make some calls and get info on that program. All of the DOD Contractors used it supporting the archive drawings....

We all used DELL M90 high-end laptops back then...

Can't tell ya. I've seen it do 3D but never created anything. I started using TurboCAD for architectural, MEP, and TV studio 1-Line drawings. I HATED AutoCAD because of the lousy keyboard interface, and at the time LT was just as bad. I still have a new copy of LT at the office because of that. TC works with tons of formats, way more than AutoCAD IIRC but I stuck with .DWG for all I do for compatibility, until at least the AutoCAD knuckleheads every few years would change their version of .DWG and nothing would work. We finally all standardized on saving in a previous version of AC to make everyone happy.

Roy: Dunno anything about Windoz 10. I used this on XP exclusively and there's still skid marks on the carpet out of my office hanging onto the XP PC when the IT folks attempted to swap it, even after 7 was obsolete... :)

Back to the 3D pricing, I do believe there is a trial period to test drive the various packages. If you talk to someone at IMSI, once you are on their radar you will start seeing random Good Buddy deals in the mail once in awhile.

Sorry to hijack Roy's thread. I'm looking for a cheap (or free) 3D-capable CAD program. The TurboCAD version Jeff linked to looks great but is 2D. At what price point does TurboCAD intergrate 3D? And has anyone here tried FreeCAD or similar 3D CAD programs?

Jeff - I was looking at that with VIACAD and TURBOCAD links that Bob had listed... $150 is affordable...

Wish I knew if anyone has used the SMARTDRAW first which is alot like the old VISIO package. This is more inline with I am doing now creating drawings like shown above... I have all kinds of views saved and can grab them and insert in the drawings then break them down vector wise and move lines and things around to suit my drawing... All of the BLUE SEA items which I really use alot of for instance have pictorials you can download from their site and can break completely down to the periods in them haha... Let them do all the hard work haha... Of course alot of the various companies have their parts drawings protected...

I have alot of my drawings using the product pictorial and then interconnected with new lines etc showing how I am using them in my applications...

I have never seen a TURBOCAD session is use. We all know how difficult the AUTOCAD programs are to learn so I for one am hesitant to try yet another lookalike haha... Of course now I got alot of time on my hands and I can see right away I am spending way too much time scanning the various forums trying to keep out of trouble with the politics of it all... Time to get back to my RV Camping projects so to speak...

I have two or three RV forums, several Ham Radio forums, A couple of F150 forums, and Family research has really been avoided for a long time now... RV Camping and bone digging in our family roots States kinda go together... I have setup camp on the river bank of the ST FRANCIS RIVER near Fredericktown MO where my oldest known BRADDY name lived back in the 1840s... Hopefully have pee'd on the same tree haha... He comes from the East coast now known as the North and South Carolinas. Lots of fun tracking the roots and actually going to see them and spend some time there. I know my BRADDY has lived in that area but none of us has ever found the grave sites. There is a histroical place on the ST FRANCIS River called BRADDYFORD spelled with two D' so that has to be close to where they actually lived... Lots of BRADYs out there but very few BRADDYs. That second D got added somewhere in England/Ireland I reckon...

I also get great internal vibes from places like the SMOKY MTNS in Cherokee Country TN/NC as well in OKLA and North Texas probably all Indian related... Probably all related to my heritage if you believe in all that stuff as there is a full blooded Cherokee Indian woman in my family tree five generators back In Southern Illinois along the trail of tears regions...

Yeal I know... what has all of this got to do with WINDOWs 10 and Drawing Software haha..

You do realize that TurboCAD versions go from $150 to $1700.00, right? They claim that the $150 version is equal to AutoCAD LT

I'm just looking at simple drawings like shown above with LIBRA OFFICE. Even MS VISIO would probably work good...

I need to break down drawings to their individual vector lines and move things around...
