Background hum from stereo

I recently purchased a AM/FM CD player to replace the my old one. It's the type that 'built in' a cabinet above the dinette area.
When ever I put on the radio there's a loud background hum coming through the speakers. There is no hum when playing a CD.
When rewiring I made sure to match the polarity of the speakers.
Any thoughts here?
Thanks.

Does the new player have a 3-wire plug? Sometimes that 3rd wire sets up a ground loop and causes hum

Also MSW inverters can cause Hum

A bad connection on one of the audio cables also
  • Could be several things:

Led lights - try turning them all off
Convertor going bad - turn off the breaker
Battery going bad - check water and voltage after converter has been off six hours
Damage to the antenna or it's cable - unplug antenna
Bad ground somewhere - oh boy

Are you able to hook the old one up again? Does it hum too?
