With the Sensar Pro you want to start the scan with the gain set to 10 (not 5). The 10 setting is neutral and offers no additional gain and does not attenuate the signal. Set to 10 you are using the amp in the head of the Batwing only. Turn the antenna until you find the best signal on the Sensar Pro and you don't have to guess where the signal is coming from. If you raise the Sensar Pro gain above 10 you will add gain but if you drop below 10 you will actually be cutting the gain. Generally you would never go below 10 except in a few areas where the in coming signal is so strong that it actually swamps the antenna. Phoenix, AZ area used to be one of those areas.
