Depending on how serious you want to be about it, the Davis Vantage Vue will definitely do the job. I have two base stations in my house, the most distant 40' from the transmitter. Check the feature list at the link - it does just about everything. Definitely overkill if all you want is the temperature, but if you want a complete station, it is one of the best.
I have a neighbor that bought his own base station and set it up for my transmitter so he could receive the data from my weather station located 400' from his house.
Not cheap, at $400.00 list & around $300.00 at Amazon, but it uses spread spectrum transmission giving it a 1000' range. Mine has been running for over 8 years...
