Bluetooth Intercom?

Anybody know if it's possible to pair up two bluetooth headsets to make a handsfree intercom or where to get such a beast? I've seen info on the bluetooth intercoms made for bikers with the helmet mount headsets, but so far nothing that works without helmets.

Best we've come up with so far is to use a standard home cordless phone system with plugin headsets into two handsets, and use them as the intercom. But they're bulky. Ought to be a better way.

DW & I wear them while traveling so we can hear each other over road and engine noise.

Thanks for any suggestions . . .

  • Saw that a couple years ago, Eric. But seems like you ought to be able to use bluetooth headsets without having to use a "wired" bluetooth transcievers.

    Anybody else?

Theory says it should be possible however it's a bit like Wi-Fi.. If you want to connect two laptops (For example) via Wi-Fi, you set one of them to be an Ad-Hock device, this flipps the transmit and receive channels.

BT devices, for the most part, do not have that option.
THAT said, I've seen some BT devices that have "Multi-connect" If someone made a BT host with Multi Connect it would act as a repeater and work just as you desire.

But it would still be "Wired".

I have some BT plans here in the future but not nearly ready to implement yet.
  • Except for voice calls via cell phone headset and pc to bt modem operations
BT protocols do not allow for two way simultaneous communications between devices
Bt is one device initiates, the other device responds
