Bogus Verizon call

Got a call on my Verizon cellphone this AM. It was from a 21Verizon and advised I had a 21 dollar credit on my upcoming Verizon bill. All I had to do was go to 21Verizon.com, log in and give info to receive the credit.
This Is a BOGUS link to steal your info.
  • I recommend looking at the whois info for that site. The DNS is not signed, the phone number is a 555-555-5555, and it is registered from offshore. It was created on June 28, and with bogus registration info for the registrant's name.

    Definitely not Verizon.

I get spammed for various phone companies all the time, and looking up the whois info for a domain will reveal lots about how genuine it is.

If you have money coming Verizon will apply it
They are not going to waste time and money informing you, that you have to go to some website and fill out input to get it

Big corporations don't work that way, it's too costly
  • How do you know it is a BOGUS link?
Did you click and go to it?
Did you give them any info?
  • We have a policy if we do not recognise the number we don't answer it. At home we let them go to the answering machine. Probably 90% of the calls hang up as soon as it hears a answering machine answer.

I heard on the news recently the Feds were going to the Hackers Convention that is held every year in Las Vegas to hire hackers to try to figure out how to stop all of the Robo calls.

  • I was getting deluged with a 'save money on your AT&T bill' calls for weeks. That's stopped.
