Browser Experimentation

Out of curiosity, I’ve been experimenting with various browsers. My usual browser is Edge, which I find quite satisfactory I’ve also tried Opera, Vivaldi, Brave, Comodo Dragon, Firefox Quantum, Yandex, and others, but I always come back to Edge...after all, It doesn’t give me a problem. As an exception, I also use Chrome on occasion. I find I need Chrome when using my Bank of America website. Interestingly, Neither Edge nor Firefox works on the ‘Shop Safe’ section of that website. It just doesn’t load properly. Only Chrome works. Don’t know why? At any rate, with the exception of that one website, I’ll continue with Edge. I won’t experiment with other browsers, at least for now, unless something really radically new comes along.

Perhaps some of you would like to comment on your browser’s qualities or likes, dislikes.
  • Hey, Clay, I just downloaded Adobe Flash and that fixed the problem with my BofA account. Now Shop Safe loads fine in Firefox. Thanks again for the suggestion.:)

Very interesting..... Now is there a "Search engine" that does not track you searches? A platform other than IE, I have used some of the platforms mention here and went back to IE. I try to stay away form anything "Google" as they track you heavily, as does Amazon. I do use Google search engine, as others do not give as good results. Duck Duck Go did track my searches, but this has been a couple of months ago. Some of the interweb access programs, seem to affect how my virus software performed. So, is there actually any other platforms that are better, or safer that windows?

Do you actually believe using any free internet service is not tracking your patterns for marketing. This big Goliath we call the internet is not running on love. It has to be paid for somehow by someone.
  • If you really want to see who's tracking you on the web, there are multiple apps for that. One that I tried and liked is Lightbeam. It shows more than just list of names. There are many others, but Windows itself reports to over 40 different companies. I got that figure from Blackviper.com, who maintains a site that shows you how to tweak the processes(services) for best performance for each iteration of windows.

Cloud track your searches or local cookie track via search/field data entry history?

Same here, always switching browsers but always returning back to Edge.
I like how Edge syncs with my Lumia 650 Windows Phone.
Wish they would add some sort of theming options besides either light or dark.

My latest browser entry is Puffin Browser
Really really impressed with its speed. Almost instant loading pages even on my current not so quick connection.

Still with Edge though as my full time browser.
  • OP here. I'm getting to like the new Firefox browser(version 58), but always ready to go back to Edge if I have issues.

If you like Edge, go for it.

But you pointed out one of Microsoft's limitations, cross platform capability. Google apps (including Chrome) sync across all platforms including Windows, Apple, Android and Linux. Microsoft is trying to follow the leader but they got a late start.

Its really hard to tell. If I search for something in Amazon, using Google, ads will follow me for months.
