Called to Buy a New Refrigerator

Just to keep everyone up to date. I did receive a call from a gentlemen with CW at approx. 1730 hrs Tues. evening after my post here. I explained to him that with the no return calls earlier that I had elected to purchase from one of their competitors down the street. He state that he "understood" and apologized for the lack of response quicker.

Additionally, checking this thread early this a.m. I saw the post from CW asking for my private contact info. I sent this via the system here and have a reply thanking for information and someone would call soon. That reply was at 0810 hr. We shall see if I get an additional call. In a honesty, I do not expect it since the gentleman two days ago did a follow up call and I told him then and have posted here also that I elected to purchase elsewhere.

No sour grapes here and maybe from the initial signs CW is starting to pay attention to some of the customer service related items. I feel that most businesses today need to highlight this with and train their employees on the importance of customer service and feed back to the customer.

I contract myself out to large companies as a QA Oversight/QA Inspector on large capital projects and have audited and inspected many vendor/fabricator facilities and their employee attitude towards quality and craftsmanship is key. A bad one shows up across the board and it shows in my inspection findings through the rejections of items, equipment, and quality programs.

Those that train their personnel on the quality program, processes, and the desire to put out a quality product really shows and in turn I know that successive orders for equipment/products follow through. The companies that have and currently contract for my services expect a certain minimum for their money. This is just as important to them on a multi-billion dollar project as it is for us individuals spending a few hundred to several thousand dollars.

I have no illusions of CW fixing overnight either here in Texas or in Florida. I know it will probably be difficult with Dometic to get service under the 3 yr mfg warranty but I figure from past experience most items last at least as long as the mfg warranty. So in 3 yrs this RV will have been replaced for full time use and will be relegated to either Deer Camp or something similar.

and with the service CW has given you now, you think there gonna fix your new frig the next time it breaks over nite????? there has to be other places to buy have repaired in florida,

I did consider the cooling unit change out.

A little background- I am for all practical purposes full-timing is this trailer, following the work. (last 7 years) I generally work six days a week (6 x 12's) and sometimes a half day on Sunday. I needed to resolve this quickly that is why I went with the local dealers first. I had hoped that CW might have my model in their store, so a phone call was in order. The store was 45 minutes from the work site I was at.

If they had responded I would have purchased and then swapped out that evening. As it is now I should be swapping out tomorrow night. (I have to be in South Texas today for the day).

The new one should be cool enough by Friday evening to allow me to put some groceries in it. I am not a fan of eating out very much. I did do the diagnostic checks per the manual and voltages, fuses, and resistance readings were within parameters. Heck the coil is hot at the top and the boiler insulation is quite warm to the touch. I had hoped the thermister was bad. No such luck. Everything checks out so it should in theory be working. I will at least have a unit that has some sort of mfg. warranty for a bit.

RV has been through two hurricanes and two blizzards in the last seven years besides the normal ND and Chicago winter. Preceded by Gulf Coast summers and falls (heat and hurricanes) and also followed with South Texas summers. The rig has held up well considering the abuse it has seen.

The guy that rebuilt our cooling unit was National Rv Refrigeration in Shipshewana IN. Ours was a 4 door Norcold, $995 to remove, replace cooling unit with his improved design and replace the Norcold.

Did you try PPL in Houston? They usually have a much better price than the other dealers.....

theres a place in indiana that rebuilds them better than, new. you can even go to his shop, I,d never buy a new one. some body on here has the name. there about $500,bucks. and have a warrenty.
