Camping World Shipping Charges

I was in the process of looking for air and oil filters for my 8kw Onan generator in preparation for my fall maintenance. I looked around and found that CW's prices were about the same as other sites (maybe a $1 or $2 more) so I added them to my cart. I was also going to order a new, multi-piece sewer hose (about $45) which I also added to my cart. When I went to look at what was in my cart, I noticed that the shipping charges for the filters was $9 EACH (for a filter that weighs less that 1 pound) and would take 4-6 weeks to ship. REALLY!!! $9 EACH? Needless to say, I didn't order anything from CW!!

Really disappointed in CW!

I thought CW shipping was free over $99???

This is true- but not for everything. As I said earlier, I was going to order a sewer hose and a couple of other items along with the filters. My total was going to be over $100. The sewer hose (over 8 lbs in weight) and other small items were to be free. The generator air filter and oil filter (which together don't weigh 2 lbs) were going to be $9 EACH to be shipped.
Doesn't make sense but as I also said, CW lost a sale.

I do agree. There are some things that could simply be placed in an envelope or even a priority mail box and shipped for around $5. They also have the knack of utilizing large boxes for very small pieces.

This is my beef with Camping World as well. Excessive shipping charges of $9.00. Mad enough to send me to Amazon.com where I fulfill almost 90% of my TT needs (and I get FREE SHIPPING)

But you pay $79/year for that free shipping and it's not free shipping on everything at Amazon. I signed up for the trial and have ordered several things. Only about half of them offered the free Prime shipping. Other's I paid for. The Prime membership at Amazon does not automatically give you free shipping on everything.
  • When I first started RVing about five years ago I bought a lot from CW, but now very seldom buy from them due to the shipping. Most items come from Amazon. I still like to go to the CW stores and will buy while there.

I get on PPL and they have $9.99 for the entire order. I bought a fantastic fan from them a few weeks ago and had it in two days.

That is who CW lost my sale to. The unusual thing was because of it's size, the item was to be drop shipped from both vendors. So it cost $25.00 more to drop ship from CW rather than PPL? I guess the labor costs of CW are much more? By the way PPL has excellent service on parts.

  • I agree. Camping world needs to a hard look at their shipping charges.

They just lost an $200.00 sale because the shipping was $25.00 higher than the competition on the exact same item!

I normally will support Camping World because I like them, but I don't like them $25.00 more.
