Can anyone explain these emails?

I have, for the past few months received some emails that, in the message, come out something like this in my MS Outlook.

??

I know they are legit messages because I get the same email on my Android and they make sense there. This particular one is a commercial message from ADT Security. I don't think this has affected any messages I really care about, so far. I would just like to know why they look like this and what has caused it. This actually shows up on two different computers at my home.

I used to get those all the time back when I used Nettamer (A DOS program) to grab my E-Mail... Three suspects.

ONE: A data file, this is either a program, graphic (photo) or compressed file designed to be translated by the computer but you have set something so that does not happen (A very good idea in my not very humble opinion)

TWO: Bad data... Something went wrong and sync was lost so the data in the E-mail is bad.. Related topic.. Bad disc read

Three: Pretty Good Protection, or some other encryption program was run on that E-mail and you need the decoder and key to read it.
