Can't Create Guest Account in Windows 10

Got it going! Thanks, folks. I won't even begin to describe the convoluted method it took to create a guest account. Nothing like W 8/8.1.The main reason I wanted a guest account is to use the Web a little more safely. As a matter of fact, I'm on the guest account right now. Anyhow, I still like W10 and look forward to exploring it some more. :)

For all practical purposes, a guest account has always seemed superfluous to me if all guests want to do is check email or browse the web. I'm willing to be educated but this seems likely why Win 10 doesn't by default have one.

I have always used a regular account as a guest account for visiting grandchildren or others and have never experienced any downside. I am careful to control access to backup hard drives, etc.

It's not as complicated as implied in an earlier prompt suggesting to use a command prompt. It takes just a minute or two as shown below.

Just go to settings, select accounts and then select Add someone else to this PC under Other people as seen in this screen capture:


In the window below, click on I don't have this person's sign in infomation:


In the window below, click on Add a user without a Microsoft account.


In the window below, add a user name of your choice and skip all the password stuff.


You are done except for setting for the initial setup of the account by logging into it.

good lord. it was very simple to create a guest account prior to Win10. wonder what the logic was to make the change from simple to complicated???
