There is noting wrong with the tripod the OP has. I have the same one andmit is absolutely stable. All thst needs to be done is drill the foot holes larger for 10 inch spikes.
That is absolutely the worst tripod money can buy. And I got mine for free. It went in the trash after using it twice. One wrong move and it's bent up and useless. You need to get rid of that. Another thing- while in the setup menu on your RX, make sure you choose the right setting for your dish. And the right switch. We take our bedroom RX with us and have to change the settings to match our portable dish, then change back when we get home. There are several to choose from, and if you choose the wrong one, you'll never get a good signal. After you've done it a few times, and make lots of mistakes, it will become easier. If I have a clear sky, I can get a signal in about 1 minute; if I'm trying to poke through trees, it can take a while.
EDIT- sorry for the long rant; sounds like you got it! Still, get a decent tripod.
