CATV cable only?

Bought at local Habitat store cable with the followings:
"Radio Shack RG-6 Quad Shield, 18 AWG, Type CATV".

Very dumb question but is this cable for cable ONLY or can it be used for HD satellite?

(I really appreciate this forum. Found 2" OD pipe at local muffler shop for my Directv set up. Would have never thought to look there. )

As all know shopping at Habiat is a win-win.

Thanks for all.

The "Type CATV" just means it meets the requirements for cable TV drop wire which is more critical than 10 or 20 foot runs in a house or in your case a short run for satellite. Yes, you can use it.

Quad Shield RG-6 is just fine for Sat TV.. In fact RG-6 is specified.. Quad shield may not necessary be the best but I would not hesitate to use it.

RG-58 is a 50 ohm cable used for radio communications. RG-59 is 75 ohm cable used for CATV applications. They are definitely not interchangeable. RG-6 is also 75 ohm and much better than RG-59 at 50 MHZ and above, resulting in less signal loss.
