it depends somewhat on the antenna designs. An omni directional external antenna has a 360 degree radiation pattern while a Yagi is very directional. If the yagi is directed away from the inside, it can be quite close, if over the trailer may need more seperation than an omni.
the higher the external antenna the closer horizontally they can be.
Now my experience with the weboost. If the phone is in a cradle antenna even 2 ft horizontal and 6 feet vertical is plenty. with the ceiling mounted inside antenna 8 ft horizontal and 6 ft vertical has been enough.
Now a metal roof will also decrease the distance needed.
a wood/rubber roof will not provide much attenuation (isolation), at least at 3g/4g frequencies.
