Cell phone service for Canada -> U.S. if no sim card?

Call Verizon. My wife is going to Canada for two weeks and Verizon has a special going on regarding Mexico and Canada. right now you can get up to 3 months (but can do as little as ONE month) for $5. It gives you text, data, and phone calls. Normal price is $15 per month. Limit on data is 100mg (not Gigabytes), and can't remember the limits on talk and messaging. VERY reasonable.
