Cell Phone w/Unlimited Call Blocking

Is there such a thing as a cell phone that can block unlimited cell numbers, and area codes? My current flip phone can only block about 30 numbers, which is becoming inadequate with the growing spam calls.
  • My AT&T Samsung S5 has call blocking, I can allow a list or favorites. I can also set up a list of numbers to reject (I don't know what the limit is on this list). Some have setup ringtones for calls they don't want that are silent (don't know anyone is calling)...
  • We don't answer the calls we don't recognize, but I get tired of the darned thing ringing all the time. And each time I have to get up and look at it to see if it should be answered. Just want some peace and quiet. Seems to me the phone should be for my convenience, not everyone elses'.

A quick check implies that the iPhone is "unlimited" (Apples FAQ). My guess is that many "better" Samsung phones would be the same.
  • A year ago I inquired about getting my truck shipped. I couldn't believe the email and cell spam that generated. The calls stopped after a few months of not answering any of them.

Honestly, I think that's your best weapon.

Jees.. it's illegal to spam a cell phone. Have you reported this? - and I don't mean the DNCL.

Is there a problem just looking at who's calling and not answering? That should discourage junk calls over time.

yes it is, and nothing is stopping it. Yes the FTC has gone after a few firms, but only a handful

As people switch their "use" phones to cell, they enter them as phone numbers with various companies they do business with, that then sell these lists to marketers, that then sell them to anyone.
  • FCC Guide

These days it's near impossible for a company to tell a cell phone from a land line number. Some states offer no call lists which you can list your cell phone on but since many people only have cell phones and no land lines it's pretty much free game.
  • I only answer calls from numbers that I recognize - essentially those that are in my address book on the phone. For unknown numbers, I let the call go to voice mail. If the caller doesn't leave a message, I don't call back. Very few robo callers or spammers will leave a message.
