It's not chrome, it's the participating websites, and any browser with an ad blocker. It remains to be seen whether enough will join the bandwagon, but it basically means for some websites, you will either have to turn off ad blocker or pay a subscription fee.
It really comes down to TANSTAAFL- someone has to pay.
