Chromebook Can't Be Hacked---Right?

I finally got a Chromebook on advice from broker and use it only for financial transactions. My understanding is that hackers cannot install keystroke readers on the chromebook to steal passwords. Can some techie confirm to me that this is true?

There is only one system that is not vulnerable. It is one that never goes on any network(wired or wireless)and never has any software installed on it.:B

Speaking from almost 30 years of IT experience, there is nothing that can't be hacked.

    Yep.

In fact, the "system" that fits the space between your ears and requires no software or firmware is even more hackable..

Its called "social engineering", can be FAKE websites which mimic the look of the real Mcoy.. Fake websites are everywhere, all it takes is misspelling by ONE letter and you end up out of luck.

Folks often fall for faked emails which state your account is frozen, on hold or shut down unless you "verify" your identity.. Often asking you to click or open a link that takes you to the fake website and then you HAND the keys to your Kingdom right over to the bad guys..

Clicking or even passing your mouse over on embedded links on websites can result in drive by malware or unwanted programs getting installed..

    And you believe him?

If it is online, it IS hackable no matter what anyone else wants you believe..

No more "secure" than a PC or MAC..

Follow the advertisement money that is gained from your data trail, there are bunches and bunches of back doors and other poor programming mistakes in all OS versions that hackers can use that may or may not be "discovered" OFFICIALLY..

Believing one is more secure than another is just a myth..
  • Some of us are lucky. No one would want my identity and if they took it by mistake they would give it back when they found out what they got.
  • A question, how many that are not willing to risk being hacked online get in an automobile? No, you don't have to answer that.

  • I would not count on it. As mentioned above, keyloggers are readily available. The one at the link installs as a browser extension and can be made to run invisibly in the background.

  • Supposedly CHrome does not allow key board logging except in developer mode but you can get a chrome book key logger at
    http://chromebookkeylogger.com/
So my guess is that anything is hackable just how hard is it to do
