No matter how unlikely it seems, it is ALWAYS a mistake to believe you are unhackable. - ljrNomad

Non-volatile primary storage. Everything stops there on its way to the cloud. No matter how unlikely it seems, it is ALWAYS a mistake to believe you are unhackable. - drsteveExplorerIf the Pentagon can be hacked, a Chromebook is certainly not immune...

Yeah, I can't get mine to store anything.. unless I insert an external device like a thumbdrive.
But the purpose of them is to work in the cloud so it's kind of counterintuitive to store downloads locally versus in cloud storage like Google Drive. - bwanshoomExplorer

Chromebooks are more resistant to hackers yes but I would NOT say "Impossible" for any device connected to the net.
ONe thing Chromebooks have that others do not (and I have a few questions) is the POWER WASH which I'm told restores it to NEW condition (out of the box. malware free) Is this true. I don't know. I also want to know if I "power wash" what happens to files I have downloaded and otherwise stored?
Chrombook's "Power Wash" is not unique by any means. All of my PC's for instance, have a similar "Restore to original" function available in the boot menu, as do my Android phones and tablets in the "Settings" menu. As for what happens to your files, if they're stored "in the cloud" as Chromebook normally does, then you have little control over them. If you've downloaded and stored them elsewhere, such as on memory sticks or cards, then they'll still be there. On restored to factory HD based PC's running Windows OS's, the non-original files are functionally deleted, but unless they're physically overwritten, they're fairly easily recovered given sufficient motivation and the correct tools. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIChromebooks are more resistant to hackers yes but I would NOT say "Impossible" for any device connected to the net.

Seems to me the odds of any one person being hacked is pretty slim. I can live with that for the convenience of online business.
I use Identity Guard should bad things happen. Get insurance.
