Hi everyone, So we bought the Google Chromecast module and installed it got it configured to the wifes Samsung Skyrocket II no problem. We are able to Chromecast from her phone using Google Play movies, but if we try to use the Netflix or Youtube App's that we installed as part of the Chromecast app's, we can't see the 'Chromecast' icon on either of those app's. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? And oh yes, we did install Googles Chrome brouser last night as well. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Happy Camping! The "Cast" icon only shows up if the Chromecast device is active (tv selecting it as input) and connected to the local network. I know I have used both apps without any issues previously.

I use chromecast for youtube and netflix and it works very well. Once I downloaded the app to my android phone and nook tablet, I just start youtube or netflix and once the picture starts on the device you will see a little tv icon and you click on it and it will ask to connect to the chromecast device and you highlight that and it should connect right up. Mine has been great. Wow there was a long sentence in their!

That's just it, when I bring up the Google Play app on my wifes cell phone, it works just fine. I see the little icon, tap on it and the program shows on the Chromecast enabled TV. However on that same phone, if I bring up any Youtube video, even ones I've created myself, I can not get the icon to show up. The same can be said for the Netflix app. I can see the movie on the phone, but the chromecast icon never comes up! Any other thoughts? Thanks! - Eric -

Did you download the newest version of those apps? I would try deleting those apps that don't show the Chromecast icon and then re-install them.

Works fine here with Linux. As suggested above, reinstall the apps.

Hi there everyone,

Well, what we figured out is that the problem was with the phone we were using. We had a friend come by that had a newer android device and they were able to serve up videos from all platforms with no problems. So, we went to our local AT&T store and replaced DW's phone with a newer one. Now, we are able to serve up all providers on the Chromecast!

The old phone had been giving the wife grief any way, so she was ready for an upgrade! :-)

Chromecast gets the video directly off the wifi network, the phone only functions as the remote and has to be conected to the same network. Something that is not made clear in the advertisements. After discovering this i move the Chromcast to one of the sets in the house and since my android phone supports Miracast am now using an adapter on the TV in the Roadtrek this does not require a wifi network just the phone, anything you can see on the phone can be shown on the TV also a simple soulution if the phone has a. Hdmi port just get a cable.

Been back and fourth with Google support on this one for a while. They don't have any suggestion for us at this point. When we find an answer, we'll let you all know. - Eric -

The most recent versions of the Android apps for YouTube and Netflix should cast to the Chromecast device, after you have used the Chromecast app to select your device. That would be Google's YouTube app, not any of the several others offered.

I am on iOS, installing and running Chromecast sent me directly to the App Store to update the apps from YouTube and Netflix.

You'd need to root to be able to uninstall it. Have you tried updating it in-place?

Youtube came installed on the device and says we can't un-install it. Does anyone know how to uninstall it so that we can re-install it?
