Chromecast: Google Play yes, netflix & youtube no

That's just it, when I bring up the Google Play app on my wifes cell phone, it works just fine. I see the little icon, tap on it and the program shows on the Chromecast enabled TV. However on that same phone, if I bring up any Youtube video, even ones I've created myself, I can not get the icon to show up. The same can be said for the Netflix app. I can see the movie on the phone, but the chromecast icon never comes up!

Any other thoughts?
