The chrome cast is a WiFi device similar to the Roku
It plugs into the HDMI port for signal output to the tv
It needs 5v power to operate which comes either the adapter or the usb port
You need another device laptop smart phone etc..
To control the device, it connects via WiFi directly to your router and the internet
It does not receive broadcasts from the pc browser
It does not plug into the the pc
The op used chrome cast to connect to his face book page
All videos and pictures were loading from Facebook
The laptop was used to control chrome cast
You could use another device like a smart phone to control it
And set the PC . As an access point/router in order to access content stored on the PC
