Cloud Storage

I currently use Dropbox Free (2GB) for Cloud Storage of Doc/Pics but am running out of the 2GB of free storage. I just need another couple of GB's but Dropbox's next package of 1TB is $99.. I had used Western Digitals Home Cloud (USB connected) but it only worked when the desktop computer system at home was on. Has anyone seen or heard of a WiFi Home Cloud System that would always be available even when the Desktop/USB was shut off. Looking for suggestions or another Cloud service that will allow me 5GB's or so and at a reasonalble price or for free.

    Hard to beat google drive. 15 gig free, very reasonable plans. 100 gig, $2 a month. If that isn't cheap enough you squeak! The cloud police will be along shortly.

    Google is fine if you're not scared off by their service contract.

    I have 125gb on Google and about 5000gb backed up with a company called Code42.

    Microsoft One Drive. 5GB FREE . Google Drive is aok but I prefer Microsoft One Drive

    WiFi NAS (network attached storage) is what you want.
    Example

    There are also many options in wired NAS that could just plug into your router.

    Have one of these NAS devices with 4 X 2TB drives in it. Use it for backups and shared file storage. If need be, can restore files to my computers while on the road as long as sufficient bandwidth available.
    If I wasn't paranoid about security and privacy, I would just use OneDrive or GoogleDrive.

    Privacy Warning.

    A few years back the courts ruled that email stored on a server for 6 months could be accessed without a search warrant.

    It is one case away from "Cloud Storage" being subjected to the same "should be illegal search" un-restrictions.

    Among other things, the terms of service gives Google a royalty free license to reuse any photos or other media you share using the service

    If you have Amazon Prime, I believe it's unlimited picture storage.

    Dropbox used to give extra free space if you refer other people to them. Not sure if they still do that. I currently have 4GB free with them.
