While a NAS device is a nice adjunct it is absolutely no substitute for cloud storage. The wise person has back-ups both locally and in another offsite location. Easiest way to have that other offsite location these days is to use cloud storage.
The person that has backups of important files in the cloud will be lets call it saved when his or her RV burns, house burns, has a break-in where equipment is stolen, has equipment failure, etc..
The person with just backups on a NAS (onsite storage device of any kind) is chitt out of luck if he or she has a fire or other events like I mentioned earlier.
As for me, ALL my important files are in the cloud and also on a storage device that is with me locally and also travels with me.
