The DW wants either an Ipad or other tablet and I'm thinking that I could hook it to my Bionic to use a a larger screen for my GPS. Is this possible?

I don't think soI think the Bionic has a micro HDMI port, but this is ONE way to an HDMI input port on an HDTV etc..video data is not normally carried via USB portmaybe somebody knows of an APP or a work around

I have a Car Dock for the Bionic that keeps it charged.THe Bionic actually make a WIFI hotspot throughout the RV, so other things connect to it wireless also, for instance the laptop.

U'mmmmm The tablet can run the GPS on it's own. No need for a smartphone whatsoever. Just install a stand alone GPS solution like Co Pilot or Sygic (my favorite). I use a Google Nexus 7 with Sygic GPS in the MH all the time!

There are GPS navigation apps that do not need data to function. They will load the maps to the tablet memory, including Google Maps when you preplan a route you can have it download all required maps before leaving. Also as stated above, Copilot and Sygic store the whole country's maps on the tablet like a standalone GPS. With any of these you are navigating with a map screen and moving vehicle icon also just like a standalone GPS.None of the tablets are made to be used as a "monitor" display for another device.

PDANet. $10. The Tab 2 will not be picky about its wifi input. At this point, I say wait 2 weeks for the 8" Tab 3. I'm not sure if the Tab 3 will be AllShare Cast enabled.

There are many differences with high capacity 12V DC chargers.

Google's Nav app that comes with Android devices can do exactly what MrWizard stated, it can store maps along your 'planned route'. However, there is a fairly small limit to how much map data it can store (can't handle long trips) and if there is a need to re-route it won't be able to do that without a data connection.

This is different from apps like Sygic and CoPilot which store all of their map data locally on your phone or tablet and are 100% functional without a data connection. Long trips and re-routing are not issues for these apps.
